Rev. Steven Milanese—MoonFactory founder—maintains a personal site that reflects his unique intersection of interests: theology, physics, technology, and systems thinking. The site needed to serve multiple audiences while maintaining a cohesive identity: researchers, ministry contacts, and potential collaborators.
The Challenge
Most personal sites fit neatly into categories—portfolio, blog, academic CV. Steven’s site needed to be all of these and more, serving as a hub for disparate interests without feeling scattered. The technical requirements were ambitious: interactive physics visualizations, real-time scripture tools, and integration with multiple research platforms.

The Approach
We built a sophisticated Next.js application with a dark, cosmic aesthetic that ties together the diverse content. The design suggests depth and exploration—appropriate for a site that spans quantum physics to pastoral care.
The information architecture organizes content by audience and intent rather than strictly by topic, making it easy for visitors to find relevant material regardless of their entry point.
Key Features
- Interactive physics visualizations including Calabi-Yau manifolds and string theory concepts
- Pastoral ministry section with scripture study tools and resources
- “Strange Quarks” blog covering interdisciplinary research
- Integration with ORCID, GitHub, Discord community, and Open Science Framework
- Smooth animations that reinforce the exploratory nature of the content
Results
The site successfully represents Steven’s multidisciplinary work while remaining navigable and professional. The interactive visualizations have attracted attention from both academic and general audiences, and the pastoral resources serve his ministry community effectively.
